March 13, 20, 27 & April 03 : 6 Hours Breathing Workshop with Master Raj

Have you been feeling restless, anxious, fearful, breathless or stressed recently? How did you feel when you encountered these symptoms? Are you aware of their causes? What did you do to manage these symptoms? Do they bother you?

These symptoms are the body’s responses to external/internal stressors. How aware are we of them and how do you address them in the present moment?

We simply breathe. The breath is a magical tool that keeps us alive and controls the nervous system. We are also able to control our thoughts through our breath. 1. No prior experience is required

2. Dedication, discipline and genuine interest in learning the breathing.

Each session is progressive and builds upon the previous.

The sessions will cover fundamentals on breathing, how the breathing are scientifically related to our thoughts. After these session we are also able to control our thoughts through our breath. It is our thoughts and perception of the world around us that shapes our thoughts. Mastery over the breath leads to mastery over the thoughts.

June 2019 : Yoga for Health Series – Backpain and Spinal Health

Complaints of lower back pain are common in today’s modern society, even among those who spend time exercising frequently. If exercise is the key to overcoming health issues, what are we not doing right to ensure that our lower backs are well taken care of? We constantly overuse our lower back daily, putting it into actions beyond its function and range for extended periods of time, such as hunching over the computer or our phones, carrying heavy load on one shoulder and poor posture.

This workshop aims to look at simple ways we can incorporate changes to our daily habits, performing daily exercises to strengthen this area and how to become more aware of our bodies to avoid repetitive stress injuries. We’ll take a look at this region at a physical and subtle level to address the issues holistically from a yoga perspective.

Pre-requisites:

1. No prior experience of yoga required

2. A genuine interest in learning about lower back health and simple methods for rehabilitation.

3. General good health. Please check with us if you have certain medical conditions before signing up.

4. An open mind and heart.

This Workshop is part of the Yoga for Health Series that Yoga Mala will be offering over the months to come. The aim of these workshops is to revisit the yogic practices and how they can help us manage our daily lives better. Yoga, undiluted, is a practice that is accessible to all.

Each session will cover fundamentals on posture and anatomy. For practice, there will be relevant asana and pranayama that will help alleviate the health issue. Participants are encouraged to continue the practice at home after the workshops to obtain benefit from the yoga practices.

Doctor’s recommendation is required for participants with chronic issues and it is suggested to contact us before signing up.

July 2019 : Yoga for Health Series – Neck Pain & Forward Neck

In this Yoga for Health Workshop Series, we explore how yoga can address common daily health concerns and complaints.

Complaints of neck pain and tight shoulders are commonly seen and heard. Common causes of neck pain could be stress, muscle weakness, poor posture or cervical misalignment. Even regular yoga practitioners are not spared of neck pain if they go about their daily lives with little awareness of their posture, breath, emotions and mind.

This workshop aims to look at simple ways we can incorporate changes to our daily habits, performing daily exercises to strengthen and realign our neck. We’ll take a look at this region at a physical and subtle level to address the issues holistically from a yoga perspective.

Pre-requisites:

1. No prior experience of yoga required

2. A genuine interest in learning about neck health and simple methods for rehabilitation.

3. General good health. Please check with us if you have certain medical conditions before signing up.
